Keep Australia Beautiful is gearing up for a great week of giving as the organisation prepares for Australia’s biggest annual celebration of the community spirit.
GiveNow Week 2013 is taking place from 1- 8 December 2013– and Keep Australia Beautiful National Association is urging its supporters to take part.
Now in its seventh year, GiveNow Week is designed to focus attention on the many ways that individuals, families and businesses can make a difference to the community in the lead-up to Christmas and beyond.
The event is anchored by a website – www.givenowweek.com.au – which provides inspiration and ideas that will help turn people into better givers. The website also offers tips for becoming a better giver, tips for enjoying a sustainable Christmas, and how to best use your money when buying Christmas trees, food and gifts.
Executive Officer of Keep Australia Beautiful Peter McLean said, “Our awards programs such as Tidy Towns, Sustainable Cities, and Clean Beaches, target litter, recycling, packaging waste and graffiti. The programs also target priority issues such as energy, water and resource conservation. Local participants are recognised for their achievements in helping to achieve environmental, social and economic sustainability in local communities across the country.”
“GiveNow Week is the perfect opportunity to highlight these excellent causes. Funds will be allocated to priority activities within the Keep Australia Beautiful Network,” Mr McLean said.
Donations are always welcome, but there are other ways to give as well. Ideas include: volunteering your time or skills, participating in our awards programs, attending our Sustainable Communities events, or go to our Green Ribbon web page to purchase an item from one of our promotional partners.
