Beverage Container Recycling Grants
In 2015 Keep Australia Beautiful awarded 8 Grants to Western Australia totalling $47,600.00 for Beverage Container Recycling Programs.
The Beverage Container Recycling Community Grants Program, funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation and Coca-Cola South Pacific in partnership with Keep Australia Beautiful, has in the past six years invested more than $2 million in local community projects that demonstrate a measurable result in diverting beverage containers out of landfill, through increased recycling at a local level.

Recycling At Home
The Cocos (Keeling) Islands Shire Council is situated approximately 2,950 km North West of Perth. Prior to the Shire’s Beverage Container Recycling Grant, glass, plastic and aluminium recycling bins were shared between households. The Shire observed contamination of recycling such as items being first placed into plastic bags before being placed into the recycling bins and poor separation of items.
The Beverage Container Recycling Program Grant they received enabled the purchase of 492 mini recycling bins for each household on the island. The Shire aims to achieve better education and understanding of the importance of at home recycling practices.
“With the provision of these mini bins it has set a secure foundation for a community oriented and coordinated approach in relation to waste recycling.” – Mrs Luluilmaknun Sloan, Community Projects Officer, Cocos (Keeling) Islands Shire Council.
