The Clean Beaches program celebrate and award communities who actively work for a cleaner, more sustainable coastal environment.
Awards are presented to local councils, volunteers, surf lifesaving clubs and other community groups who implement initiatives that care for dunes, waterways, protect habitats, educate the community, reduce litter and support tourism.
Each year state and territory winners are announced, which go on to become finalists in the National award.
The 2016 Clean Beaches title was won by West Beach, Victoria on 17 November 2016.
