MEDIA RELEASE
Saturday 21 May 2016

Keep Australia Beautiful today thanked Malcolm Turnbull for his announcement where he committed a future Coalition Government to a three-year, $1 million package for organisations that build environmental awareness, reduce local littering and keep local environments healthy.

Philip Robinson, CEO of Keep Australia Beautiful said, “this support would enable us to continue the vital, grassroots work of preserving our unique, natural environments.”

“For almost fifty years Keep Australia Beautiful has encouraged businesses, schools, community groups and individuals to take responsibility for making their own patch of Australia beautiful.”

“In the last year alone, more than 20,000 volunteers across 1,200 community groups actively supported our efforts to make Australia litter free,” Mr. Robinson said.

“And we are proud that this leadership has resulted in Keep Australia Beautiful being nominated in the 2016 UNAA World Environment Day Awards.”

Mr. Robinson also said, “we would intend to use funds of this nature to grow our Eco-Schools program and increase our focus on preserving the beauty of our coasts, waterways, and marine environments.”
