Are you a budding Steven Spielberg? Keep Australia Beautiful WA is urging video and film makers to get creative in the fight against litter for a chance to win some great prizes.
Create a dynamic, catchy and funny anti-littering advertisement and you could win a weekend trip for four to the Rottofest 2013 short film, comedy and music festival to see your ad on the big screen, or $500 cash.
The ‘Did you just drop one?’ ad competition uses humour to sell the anti-litter message and is part of KABWA’s new ‘Bin it …You know it’s the right thing to do’ campaign.
Chair of the Keep Australia Beautiful Council Mel Hay invited creative Australians to make their own 30-second anti-litter ad suitable for viewing online.
“To have a chance to win, the entries must use the proposition ‘Did you just drop one?’ to deliver the ‘Bin it … You know it’s the right thing to do’ message,” Mr Hay said.
“Keep Australia Beautiful hopes this competition and the ‘Bin it’ campaign emphasise that keeping Australia beautiful is something that we are all responsible for and that littering is unacceptable.”
“People who litter often see it as someone else’s problem, or justify their action by saying that others do it too, or that items littered are only small. Yet littering of any kind causes major environmental and social hazards and represents a significant financial burden for local governments and authorities that have to clean it up. The aim of this campaign and competition is to appeal to Australians’ sense of what’s right – and to their sense of humour, while exploring creative ways to get the anti-litter message out.”
The winning entry in the ‘Did you just drop one?’ competition will be shown at Rottofest 2013, a renowned short film, comedy and music festival at Rottnest Island on 6-8 September. The winner will also receive $500 cash, or a trip for four to the Rottofest weekend, valued at $930.
Entries close on Monday 19 August at 5pm WST. This is open to entries nationally, with no age limit.
