A key player with some of Australia’s biggest and most successful brands has been appointed to head up the non-profit environmental organisation Keep Australia Beautiful National Association Ltd (KAB).

Philip Robinson, 54, has a distinguished career as a senior executive with leading local and global businesses including Sunbeam, Kraft Foods, Maxxium, Dairy Farmers and Lion Nathan, and will now spearhead KAB’s campaign to stop littering across the nation.

Mr Robinson said he was both excited and humbled by his appointment.

“It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to lead an organisation with such a proud history into its next exciting phase,” Mr Robinson said.

“Keep Australia Beautiful is an iconic brand with an important core purpose, but it also has significant potential to improve our awareness and care of the environment.”

“I look forward to working with the Board, our State Members and our corporate and government partners to formulate a new vision and implement programs that will allow us to achieve this objective.”

A chemical engineering graduate of the University of New South Wales with an MBA from Macquarie University and INSEAD in France, Mr Robinson’s diverse career began as a trainee engineer with BHP.

The vast majority of his career has been in the fast moving consumer goods sector where has held a variety of roles including Brewing Manager at Tooheys, General Manager of Operations Services and Development at Dairy Farmers, Managing Director of Maxxium (NZ), Head of Planning and Governance at Kraft Foods, and General Manager of Sales at Sunbeam.

He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

KAB Chair Robert Thomas said Mr Robinson would lead the organisation into a new era as it prepared to mark its 50th anniversary in 2018.

“Philip is a natural leader with a great passion for the environment, a proven track record of stakeholder engagement and commercial acumen, so he was an obvious choice lead KAB into the future,” Mr Thomas said.

“Philip has an impressive record of improving the performance of every organisation he works for and I’m sure he will do the same for us.”
