The Keep Australia Beautiful Council (Tasmania) Inc. (KABC) was established in 1971 and has developed a highly credible reputation as an organisation committed to community enhancement and creating a more sustainable environment.
Along with other State and Territory KAB organisations, KABC Tasmania is a member of Keep Australia Beautiful National Association.
Community development, environmental protection and litter abatement are KABC Tasmania’s prime objectives and are achieved by creating public consciousness and encouraging community action and partnerships.
KABC Tasmania’s members and program participants include local government bodies, community groups, schools, industry and individuals
The organisation encourages councils, schools, community groups and industry to work together for the benefit of the local community andTasmaniaas a whole.
The Tasmanian Government has been a strong supporter of KABC Tasmania’s programs and, reciprocally, KABC Tasmania supports and assists the State Government with its own community development programs, waste minimisation, environmental education and litter reduction strategies, along with providing indirect benefits to the tourism industry.
In Tasmania, the KABC Board is comprised of concerned community members and local business people all of whom devote their time and energy to KABC matters on a voluntary basis.
KABC employs a part-time administrator, Mr. Geoff Marsh, who acts as Executive Officer.
KABC is a non-profit organisation relying on funding from Government and sponsors to deliver services and programs to the community
