Beverage Container Recycling Grants

In 2015 Keep Australia Beautiful awarded 5 Grants to New South Wales totalling $31,673 for Beverage Container Recycling Programs.

The Beverage Container Recycling Community Grants Program, funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation and Coca-Cola South Pacific in partnership with Keep Australia Beautiful, has in the past six years invested more than $2 million in local community projects that demonstrate a measurable result in diverting beverage containers out of landfill, through increased recycling at a local level.

Menai Anglican Church – Barden Ridge

Menai Anglican Church Recycling Project

Menai Anglican Church is a large church which draws from many surrounding suburbs with approximately 1000 people using the church buildings each week. Groups from within and outside the church use the facilities regularly and heavily, producing a lot of waste, and contamination of the one recycling bin they previously had.

The Beverage Container Recycling Program Grant they received enabled them to purchase more recycling bins that are durable, portable, high capacity and clearly marked. This project has has improved the amount of recyclable material going into the recycling stream and has been a catalyst for the church to better manage its waste.

“This project has been a catalyst for the church to better manage its waste. The bins are attractive and recycling bins are easily identified, so recycling has improved.” – Eric Hatfield, Volunteer, Menai Anglican Church
