Beverage Container Recycling Grants

In 2015 Keep Australia Beautiful awarded 3 Grants to Tasmania totalling $15,000.00 for Beverage Container Recycling Programs.

The Beverage Container Recycling Community Grants Program, funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation and Coca-Cola South Pacific in partnership with Keep Australia Beautiful, has in the past six years invested more than $2 million in local community projects that demonstrate a measurable result in diverting beverage containers out of landfill, through increased recycling at a local level.

Can Do – Recycle Your Beverage Container

Tasmania has experienced significantly increased tourism in the past 12 months, and Glamorgan Spring Bay Council identified the need to convey recycling opportunities to the high number of international tourists and visitors.

The Council designed pictorial recycling signs for public place and event recycling bins to clarify the specifics of waste and recycling separation. The intention of the project was to further refine the design of the bin signage to incorporate a small amount of translated text for non-English speakers.

The Beverage Container Recycling Program Grant they received enabled the purchase of three eco enclosure recycling bins and signage that were installed in three coastal locations with high recreational use areas for locals and visitors.

“By providing well positioned and eye catching recycling facilities at several extremely popular coastal locations we are reducing pollution and litter in our beautiful coastal environment.” – Cynthia Maxwell-Smith, Glamorgan Spring Bay Council.
