Instead of tossing them, consider giving these items a second life—use them for storage, as liners, or for DIY projects. By reusing soft plastics, we keep them out of landfill a little longer and reduce the need for new plastic bags. 🌱Try setting aside a space to store soft plastics you can reuse and challenge yourself to get creative! It’s all about finding ways to reduce waste and embrace sustainable habits, one small step at a time.Also it's important to know the differences between Biodegradable and Compostable Plastics and then check your local council guidelines.Biodegradable Plastic: 🍃 Can be broken down by Microorganisms (bacterial/fungi_) ino substances found in nature 🍃 Tested in a lab under "ideal conditions". Outside conditions are different. 🍃 Plastic bags labelled "biodegradable" are still plastic, just with the addition of microorganisms to help break it down faster.Compostable Plastics: 🍃 Completly break down into basic parts (water, carbon, biomass) at a simialr rate to other organic materials. Will not release harmful toxins 🍃 Regulated and tested to biodegrade in a specific timeframe, without releasing anything harmful. Creates healthy compost that enriches the soil. 🍃 Must be certified as commercially or home compostable.
