WHAT ARE THE SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS?

Our iconic Tidy Towns Sustainability Awards began in Western Australia way back in 1968, and has evolved into a national award celebrating community led environmental action in rural and regional Australia.
Every year, overall winners from each state and territory qualify to take out the coveted Tidy Towns national title.
An award ceremony brings together community leaders, environmental sustainability champions, young legends and waste warriors to share experiences, celebrate achievements and learn from and inspire one another.

Williams Community Resource Centre — National Tidy Towns Awards Testimonial – Hazel Harris, Manager, Williams Community Resource Centre
Now that the dust has settled after a wonderful holiday in Tasmania, I’ve had the opportunity to reflect on what an incredible experience we had in Launceston. The location, the company, and of course the outstanding achievements recognised made it a truly memorable event for our community – I think I am also still in a bit of shock!
After taking home the State Award in 2025, an incredible achievement in itself, we were proud to put forward a submission for the National Awards. This was far from a simple continuation; it required a significant amount of work, including substantial rewriting, reshaping responses, and developing entirely new content to meet the revised criteria. It was truly a team effort, supported by a community whose involvement, pride and commitment made the application such a compelling story to tell.
On behalf of the Williams Community Resource Centre and the wider Williams community, I would like to sincerely thank Keep Australia Beautiful National and the entire team for delivering such a well-run and inspiring awards program. It was a privilege to be part of it, and we were all deeply inspired by the calibre of projects and the passion of communities across Australia.
We recently held a community celebration to acknowledge this achievement and to recognise the many individuals and groups whose efforts inspired the application — a wonderful evening that reflected the pride our community feels in this recognition.
The Williams CRC values its strong partnerships and is committed to supporting opportunities that showcase and strengthen our community. We look forward to working closely with the Keep Australia Beautiful team as Williams prepares to host the 2027 National Awards – and to ensuring it is a successful and memorable event.
