South Geelong Primary School Celebrated by Local Media for Creative Mural and Community Spirit.
The mural caught the eye of their local Geelong Advertiser, who came down to photograph the mural last week, in recognition of their participation in Keep Australia Beautifulβs Paint Australia Beautiful 2025 competition.
The school, located on Wadawurrung Country and established in 1879, has long been a pillar of history and sustainability in the Geelong region. Their mural, designed and painted by students and staff, showcases the Wedge-tailed Eagle (Bunjil), Eastern Beach, the You Yangs and the Barwon River, alongside hand-prints from the entire school community.
This recognition from Local Media shines a spotlight on the schoolβs commitment to heritage, community connection and environmental responsibility. The artwork is a living reminder that caring for Country and each other goes hand in hand.
